Originally from Corvallis, Oregon, I came into my interest in health and healing from an early age. Beginning with backrubs on my family as a child, to assisting my father in teaching first-aid classes, to being an Emergency Medical Technician for many years with a local volunteer fire department, to attuning as a Reiki Healer, I have explored many facets of how the body reacts in health and wellness. Add to that my love of many years for dance and martial arts, and you can understand why I am so fascinated and inspired by the body’s ability to heal and adapt.
After my own major car accident in 2000, and my father’s fight with cancer, I decided that I’d had enough of hospitals and emergency medicine for a while, but still retained a love for helping others. After purchasing a massage table several years later for my “hobby”, I decided that I had made up my mind to undertake massage as a career without realizing it. I fell in love with the knowledge and passion for bodywork which the teachers and staff of the Brian Utting School of Massage (now the Cortiva Institute – Brian Utting School of Massage. www.busm.edu) demonstrated and graduated their 16-month program in August 2007. Since becoming licensed, I have been working a private practice out of my home office in the South Lake Union area of Seattle.
In addition to dance, I still dabble in piano and vocal composition, take in the occasional show, and relish the welcome sunny break to the normally cloudy Pacific Northwest weather.
